Chamber of Commerce Announces Aaward
Winners
From Journal Staff Reports
ITHACA — The Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce will
present the Strebel Planning Group with the 2006 David R.
Strong Memorial Small Business of the Year Award at a luncheon
today. Felicia's Atomic Lounge is the recipient of the Chamber's
2006 New Business of the Year Award.
The awards will be presented to both organizations at today's
Chamber luncheon from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Lakewatch Inn
on East Shore Drive in Lansing. Today's event is the first
of two that the Chamber will hold this year, in response to
suggestions from members that Annual Award recipients are
deserving of more recognition from the Chamber than has been
possible in the past, when all annual awards were presented
at the Annual Dinner.
Award recipients are chosen from nominations made by Tompkins
County Chamber of Commerce members. Criteria include gross
sales, business growth, number of employees, business innovation,
volunteerism in the community and commitment to the Chamber.
Businesses were also evaluated on having a clear mission and
vision statement.
Strebel Planning Group provides tax, accounting, financial
planning, business development and employee benefits services
to individuals and organizations across the northeast.
Felicia's Atomic Lounge has a philosophy that a lounge is
for lounging, relaxing, socializing, music, thinking and creating.
Felicia's also provides off-site liquor catering in partnership
with other local food caterers.
The Chamber will present the Large Employer of the Year Award
to Cornell University and Not-For-Profit of the Year Award
to the Sciencenter at a luncheon on Dec. 8. All awardees will
also be recognized at the Chamber's annual dinner, which will
be held Jan. 25. |
